Pastor - Father Robert Buchmeier
Father Robert P. Buchmeier was appointed to pastor of Holy Cross Parish by Cardinal Wuerl in 2015. Father Buchmeier is a native of Spokane, Washington, and was ordained in 1991, after studies at Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Weston, Massachusetts. In addition, Father Buchmeier holds a degree in psychology from Seattle University. He has served as a parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist Parish, Clinton; and as a parochial administrator at St. Bernardine of Siena Parish, Suitland; Christ the King Parish, Silver Spring; St. Mary Parish, Bryantown; and St. John the Evangelist Parish, Clinton. As a pastor, he has served at St. Nicholas Parish, Laurel, from 1998 to 2005; St. Columba Parish, Oxon Hill, from 2005 to 2011; and Sacred Heart Parish in La Plata from 2011 until his appointment to Holy Cross. He completed 15 years of commissioned service in the U.S. Army as a Medical Service Corps officer with the rank of major.
Principal - Lisa Maio Kane, M.Ed.
Lisa Maio Kane earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University, a Master of Education from Marymount University and an Administration and Supervision Certificate from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She is a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society. Mrs. Kane began her career at Holy Cross in 2004 where she was the Resource Teacher and Testing Coordinator. In 2008, she added Assistant Principal to her duties. She was elevated to principal in 2009.
Mrs. Kane was named an Archdiocese of Washington Catholic School Teacher of the Year for 2005-2006. That same year she received the Knights of Columbus Monsignor O’Donnell Teacher of the Year Award. In 2012, Mrs. Kane was awarded a MEGGY from the Maryland Educators of Gifted Students. In 2013, she led Holy Cross School to its first National Blue Ribbon Award for Academic Excellence.
Mrs. Kane believes in educating the whole child ~ mind, body, and soul.
Administrative Assistant - Ann Smith
Ann Smith earned an Associate Arts in Medical Assisting from Montgomery College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Maryland University College. She is a licensed Medication Technician. Mrs. Smith began working in Holy Cross' front office in 2004. Her prior experience includes 12 years as a Certified Medical Assistant followed by Executive Assistant to managing partners in government services.
Mrs. Smith is an empty nester at home but believes all Holy Cross children are hers during the school day!
