Middle School Literature and English

The goal of the Language Arts program is to ensure that each student can communicate effectively in real-world situations.  This involves the ability to read, write, speak, listen, and think critically. To accomplish these goals the following components are taught: a structured vocabulary program, Writers' Workshop, and an assigned literature program.  Each grade level has specific tasks and materials based on themes and each component is integrated with each other. There is also an effort to include interdisciplinary units.  Language Arts is broken into two separate classes:  Literature and English.
