Middle School Math Curriculum

Holy Cross School uses the Middle School Math Series Course 1, 2 and 3 published by Scott Foresman, Addison Wesley  for Grades 6 - 8.

Course 1 focuses on numerical reasoning;
Course 2-focuses on proportional reasoning;
Course 3 focuses on Algebraic reasoning.

The textbooks meet the NCTM Standards/Technology. Every chapter of each course focuses on problem solving and technology, as well as, algebraic foundations and relationships.

Incorporated throughout each course of the teaching/learning process, emphasis is placed on practice activities, hands-on experiences, and the integration of critical thinking skills.  Additionally, a variety of enrichment activities include the usage of web sites and correlation to other subjects in everyday problem solving.

At the conclusion of the 7th grade, students who meet certain rigorous criteria are eligible to take Algebra I in the 8th grade.
