As the technology coordinator of Holy Cross School, a significant part of my workweek is spent teaching the students in the computer lab. I embrace the techno-constructivist strategy where the teacher is the facilitator who guides the student through a learning experience. The student is the central figure and plays an active role in his or her own learning experience. The availability of technology in this environment provides the student with the tools to actively participate in the research, production, presentation, and management activities of their own learning. Students, from Kindergarten through 8th grade, spend 30 to 45 minutes per week in the computer lab learning a wide variety of software applications. These applications can be used as tools to enhance the learning experience. Word processing, drawing programs, graphics programs, spreadsheet applications, web design, and multimedia authoring programs are taught in a project-based environment. I have included links to a variety of educational artifacts that portray
my teaching style. Click on each reflection to read about
the significance of each artifact.
