I began my career as an economist for the Defense Department. After a 10 year hiatus from my profession to raise 2 children, I became interested in the use of the computer as an educational tool in their elementary school. In 1982 I began to work as a volunteer in their school to design and implement a computer program. Within the next year, two other schools, including Holy Cross School, hired me to design and start similar computer programs. I coordinated a staff of parent volunteers who worked with the students using drill and practice software to supplement the curriculum. Within a few years I only worked with Holy Cross School. The computer program continued to evolve as I became the computer teacher. I taught the programming language, LOGO, and introduced word processing to the students and teachers. As the program grew, the computer teacher position gradually evolved to become a full time technology coordinator position. In that position I began to oversee the proper integration of the emerging technologies into the curriculum. Today I am in my 20th year of educational computing. I am the mother of 2 grown children. Now, empty nesters, my husband and I enjoy traveling to Europe and visiting exciting North American sites. Our first grandchildren, twin boys, were born on Saturday morning, April 13, 2002. This event promises to bring a new and different level of excitement to our lives. This page last updated on May 5, 2002.
